April the 22nd is our last day of co-op this year!  I hope that all of you enjoyed this year as much as I have.  I know that co-op is a great deal of work, but the rewards are so much greater.

I encourage each of you to attend our parent/teacher meeting on April the 24th and let’s being planning next year’s co-op together.  Our children need this outlet to get the well-rounded education that we all desire for them.

I would like to personally thank each one of you for all your hard work this year. I especially want to thank our new parents who really stepped up to the challenge of making our co-op excellent.

God Bless each one of you.

Thank you and have a rockin’ summer, Kristi!

We will be having a parent/teacher meeting on Thursday April 24th, at Restoration Church in Spartanburg. The meeting will begin promptly at 6:00p.m. and will end at approximately 7:30 p.m.  Jennifer Carr will be there for those of you who are interested in Geometry as will most of the other teachers who have already been assigned a classroom.

This is also our first opportunity for registration. If you know you would like to register your children for co-op, this is the best time to do so.  The classes that fill up will not be available for registration in July.

We will cover policies, procedures, regulations and parental involvement during this meeting. It is also the only substantial time that I will have to answer questions on a one on one basis.  At the registration in July, we are so busy that I simply can’t stop to answer specific questions for every parent.

Classes will run this year from 10:00am to noon and then we’ll break for lunch.  Classes will resume at 12:45 till 2.

Nursery:  Well, they’re babies so they’ll do baby stuff. :)

3&4 yr olds:  Crafts, art, phonics, playtime and snacks!

K5-1st grade:  Magic School Bus, Art, and social time with games.

2-4th:  Magic School Bus, Art, Geography, and study hall.

3-6th:  Apologia, Art, IEW writing, game time.

6-8th:  Apologia General Science, IEW writing, Art

8-10th: Apologia Physical Science, English Lit., Geometry, Art

9th-12th: Geometry, English Lit., Toasmaster’s Speech Club, Driver’s Education

7th-12th:  Gaming for Excellence, Progressive Art, and Study Hall

I’m pleased to announce that we will also be teaching Geometry at STARS this year.  Jennifer Carr, a certified high school math teacher, has agreed to teach our high schoolers!

This class will run for the entire year and fullfill the requirements for an entire credit in math.

I’m proud to tell you that in the 08/09 school year we will be offering English Lit for high schoolers. This will be a full high school credit class.

It will include British and English works with group discussions, compositions, plays and more.  We will cover satire, humor, drama, analogy and more in this class. It will be comprehensive and tests will be administered.

Mrs. Lisa Lassiter, who is a rockin’ English teacher, has agreed to oversee this class. We’re blessed to have her!

We are an academic, Christian homeschool co-op located in Spartanburg, S.C..   We are currently working on our 09/10 school year and encourage everyone who visits this site to search the previous entries to learn more about what we offer!

Thanks, Kristi Walker
